There’s still time to file your Form 471 for the 2016-17 E-Rate funding year! The E-Rate Form 471 filing deadline for schools is this Thursday, May 26th. That means that schools need to file their 471 by 11:59pm ET via USAC's E-Rate Productivity Center (EPC) to request funding for the 2016-17 school year. Libraries and consortia have until Thursday July 21st to file a 471.
Here are a few key steps that every applicant should take now to ensure a smooth filing experience in EPC:
- Sign up for an EPC account
Schools and libraries should register for accounts with the E-Rate Productivity Center (EPC).
- Get an FCC Registration Number
Schools and libraries doing business with the FCC must register for an FCC Registration Number (FCC RN). To secure an FCC RN, visit the FCC's CORES website, select "Register," and provide the requested information.
- Secure an entity number for each entity in your organization.
You will need to get an entity number for each school or library in your district.
- Identify an account administrator
All school and library accounts must have an account administrator who can add users and assign permissions to file and certify forms.
- Confirm the applicant type for your organization.
Entities were migrated over from the old system into EPC based on how they filed their FY2015 program forms. If your applicant type is incorrect, you should call the Client Services Bureau (CSB) at 1-888-203-8100 to correct it before you file your FCC Form 471.
- Update each entity profile in your organization
The profile information for each school or library district must be complete and correct for you to certify program forms and for EPC to calculate urban/rural status and discounts. You can complete or update this information yourself online.
Still need help with EPC? Reach out to USAC’s Client Services Bureau (CSB) at 888.203.8100 between the hours of 8:00 am – 8:00 pm (Eastern) on weekdays, and noon-4:00 pm on Saturdays.
