This year, COMPTEL PLUS is even more thrilling than usual for us - our president and CEO, Jeff Gardner, was invited to deliver the keynote address – and wow, did he deliver. Along with COMPTEL CEO Chip Pickering, Jeff spoke this morning about market trends impacting the industry, the state of competition, legislative and regulatory reform efforts now underway and the technology transition of the public switched telephone network.
The dialog between Chip and Jeff touched on a variety of topics in today’s telecom spotlight, such as special access reform and last mile access, the rapid evolution and transition to IP technologies, the importance of competition, and ultimately, as Jeff stated multiple times, that the focus of all involved should be on the customer. One of Jeff’s final comments in the session was simply encouraging to all – “As we think about these transitions, focus on the customers and not solely on the technologies. It’s far more about the end user and what they really need from us.”
Jeff’s insights are extremely important to the telecommunications industry. With more than 25 years of experience in the field—the last nine of which he has spent leading Windstream—Jeff brings the kind of expertise and insight we’ve all come to expect when attending COMPTEL PLUS events. We were proud to be in the audience supporting him today, honored to be on the Winning Team alongside such a great thought leader.
