Lobby Information
- 24-hour physical security monitors all cameras, door positions, and badge access areas
- Redundant off-site monitoring of all security systems
- Camera on each doorway
- Double man trap
- Forces double verification and provides extra secure data center entry
- Door entrance to data center requires a badge to get in and a badge to get out
- Two factor authentication that includes the use of Biometric hand scanners verifies unique hand geometry image and a heat signature before allowing entry into the Boston Data Center
Cage/Cabinet Information
- Cage locks are impossible to "pick" because they require unique laser-etched keys with magnetic signatures
- Lack of hand or foot holds makes strong sheet metal cages unscalable
Electrical
- Boston Data Center facility is uniquely connected to two power grids
- Power distribution consists of an A and B side methodology with each side of the power infrastructure having the capacity to support full facility load in the event of failure
- Dual sourced PDUs are fed from both the A side and B side power infrastructure and can automatically switch to an alternate power source in the event of failure
- All customer cabinets are fed via diverse dual sourced PDUs
- Redundant 1.5 Megawatt diesel generators, regularly tested, for added protection
- Indefinite run time with refueling, (currently, over one week of continuous operation without refueling with current load)
- Locked within a sound-attenuated, secure enclosure monitored by cameras
- Critical functions are remotely monitored within the Boston Data Center
HVAC
- A minimum of N+1 configuration at the Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) level
- Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) units are strategically positioned around the data center for optimal airflow efficiency
- CRAC units maintain temperature and humidity within four degrees and 5% of temperature and humidity set points
- Moisture containment basins and sensors ensure no moisture gets in the data center
- Separate and further redundant cooling systems for critical support areas (NOC, MIS, Security)
Building Management Systems
- Continuum building management system with on-site and remote monitoring and control of all HVAC, generators, UPSs and switchboards, as well as other mechanical systems
Security Cameras
- Cameras digitally record all movement in and around the Boston Data Center
- Separate cameras focused on all exterior doorways
- Over 30 cameras throughout the data center
- Video surveillance footage is kept online for 90 days and then archived for a minimum of one year
Access Control
- Biometric plus security code readers on all doors with direct access into the data center
- Proximity plus security code readers on all main entrance doors to the general facility
- Proximity readers on all door to secured areas within the data center
